He was U17 (cadets) world champion in 2003. He lost at the junior championships in 2004 to Amir Khan. 

About Yordenis Ugás

Cuban professional boxer who has held the WBA (Super) welterweight title. In January 2021, he was elevated to the status of WBA (Super) champion after the previous title-holder Manny Pacquiao was stripped of his title due to inactivity. As an amateur, he won a gold medal at the 2005 World Championships. He also won a bronze medal at the 2008 Olympics. 

Family Life

He was engaged to Dayanara Leon. The couple started dating in April 2019.

He and Félix Savón are both famous Cuban boxers.

Fast facts

In 2006, he won the Central American Championships. He was part of the Cuban national team that won the 2006 Boxing World Cup. On 9 March 2019, he fought his first career title fight against Shawn Porter for the WBC welterweight title.
